My Broken Striped newt; (Notophthalmus viridescens dorsalis) Adopted March 31, 1999-June 13, 2005. Nick was not a picky eater, he would eat anything you gave him without hesitation. He was quite the poser too! Passed away without cause, sadly missed.

Speedy and Nick were the best of friends. Where you found one, the other was never too far away.

(Notophthalmus viridescens dorsalis) Adopted March 31, 1999-May 3, 2006. You never knew where this aquarium clown was, or what mischief he was causing. His favorite pastime was doing laps around the aquarium. I loved and will miss his bright yellow, chubby belly :) He was quite the looker!

(Taricha granulosa) April 2003-Aug 1, 2006.
Can you spot the egg in the picture on the left?      The next photo is a shot of the first larvae to hatch. As you can see they do not have any limbs and appear much like tadpoles with feathery gills at the sides of the head.        The next photo is a rapidly growing larvae with all limbs formed at 5 months of age.      The last two pics are taken at 1 year of age, April 2004. Both offspring had successfully morphed, shed their gills and ventured to land. Unfortunately one baby passed away shortly after morphing and Cooky, named after her parents Wooky and Chiko, passed away of unknown causes much too young!

(Tylototriton verrucosus) Himalayan newt. Adopted February 4, 2005-November 28, 2006.  Despite a healthy appetite and an active life, she was found the day after eating two mealworms inside her favorite cave. Taken far too early!

(Ambystoma tigrinum
mavortium
) Adopted online late July 2007 as a potential mate for my male Tiger salamander, Tigger. I traveled cross border to Pennsylvania to bring her home safely. She was quite active and ate ferociously with no signs of any problems. Regardless, she passed away August 16, 2007.

SASHA

(Tylotriton verrucosus) Adopted March 25, 2003-April 27, 2008. The lone female of my Emperor newts. Initially referred to as stubby due to the lack of digits on her right hand. All 4 digits were lost, bitten off, in an accident related to improper shipping. Poor Sasha! Always active with a healthy appetite she suddenly stopped eating for no apparent reason. Perhaps age. Despite medication for fear of possible bacterial infection she lost her battle. I will miss you!
